Gardaí in Laytown are appealing for witnesses to a crash that left a teenage boy seriously injured.

The 13-year-old was struck by a car at the entrance to the Wellesly Manor Estate on the Eastham Road in Bettystown on Wednesday afternoon.

The driver was uninjured - the boy was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda but was transferred to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
