Gardai are appealing for information following a shooting incident in Co. Mayo last night. A man aged in his 30s was injured during the gun attack in Castlebar and is recovering in hospital.

At around 8.30pm last night a number of shots were fired in a house in the Castlegrove Estate in Castlebar. The man suffered non life-threatening injuries during the incident.

Gardai believe the culprits fled the scene in a bronze coloured Audi car which they are trying to locate.

Investigating officers think the gun attack maybe linked to another shooting at a Mace Service Station in Castlebar on January 6th. A relative of the man shot last night was also shot in that incident.

The perpetrators on that occasion made their getaway in a black coloured Golf GTI. Gardai are appealing to anyone who has seen either car to contact them.
