Gardaí have formally identified skeletal remains found in the Dublin mountains last Friday as missing woman Elaine O'Hara. Her body was found by a woman out walking her dog.

The 36-year-old had been missing since August 22nd last year.

She was last seen leaving Belarmine Plaza in Stepaside at approximately 5.05pm that day, and was subsequently sighted close to the footbridge that crosses the railway at Shanganagh Park in Shankill an hour later that same evening.

The scene where the remains were found

Her Green Fiat Punto car was found at Shanganagh Cemetery in Shankill two days later, 18 kilometres from where her body was found. There have been various appeals launched for more information.

It was reported earlier today that gardaí had contacted her family following the discovery last week.

The cause of her death has not yet been established and it is being treated as suspicious for the time being.

Gardai in Blackrock in Dublin have now renewed their appeal for information from anyone who has information on her movements between August 22nd 2012 when she was last seen at Ballinclea Heights in Killiney, and last week when her body was found.
