A man in his 20s was released without charge yesterday evening with a file to be prepared for the DPP.

The second man, aged in his 30s, remains in custody this morning.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

They are particularly interested in talking to anyone who was in the Tone Street area around the time of the incident and may have camera footage.

A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at Ballina Garda Station.

A Family Liaison Officer has also been appointed to support Mr Casserly’s family.
