Gardai are examining the scene of a fatal house fire in County Donegal.

The alarm was raised at a house in Gortahork at about 20 past 7 this morning.

The body of the victim - an 87-year-old man- who was the only person in the house at the time - has been removed to Letterkenny General Hospital for a post mortem examination.

It is understood Gardaí are not treating the fire as suspicious.

Local Fianna Fail Donegal County Councillor Seamus O'Domhnaill says the entire community is shocked by the news today.
