Gardaí find sawn-off shotgun and ammunition in Dublin car

A sawn-off double barrel shotgun and ammunition has been found by Gardaí in an abandoned vehicle in Dublin. 

As part of their investigation into crime in the Baldoyle area of Dublin, Gardaí were issued a warrant to search a property on Moyne Road. 

Ahead of the search, Gardaí from Clontarf and Raheny were joined by the District Detective Unit, Garda Dog Unit, Armed Support Unit, District Drugs Unit and the District Crime Task Force.

During the search, Garda noticed an abandoned car and found the shot-gun and ammunition hidden inside it. 

The gun was handed over to the Ballistics Section of the Garda Technical Bureau who are carrying out an examination. 

Two vehicles were also seized but no arrests were made. 

The investigation is described by Gardaí as “ongoing”.
