/> Gardai in Cork City have launched an investigation, after a 20  year old man was attacked with a hammer and stabbed last night.

The man  was attacked on the Mardyke at around 10pm and suffered a hammer blow to the head and a minor stab wound to the arm.

He was taken to hospital – but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

An investigation has been launched – but so far no arrests have been made.
