Gardai are due to release a statement on reports a number of false names were signed on letters objecting to the five Garth Brooks concerts at Croke Park in Dublin next month.
According to the Irish Independent, gardai are understood to be examining some of the estimated 370 signatures included on objection letters to verify if they are genuine.
The Dublin Lord Mayor Christy Burke says he would be surprised if there were any irregularities attached to any petition regarding the issue.
It is believed that officials from Dublin City Council raised the issue after noticing similarities in the handwriting of names and addresses on some of the petition letters and decided to alert local gardai.
Meanwhile Patrick Gates from the Croke Park Residents Association says this is a distraction from the real issue at hand.
