Gardaí are investigating an alleged sexual assault on a young woman in Co Cork over the weekend.
It happened in the early hours of Saturday morning at Allihies.
Investigating officers in Castletownbere say no arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
An incident room has been set up at Bantry Garda station.
Robin Schiller, reporter with the Irish Independent, spoke to Newstalk Breakfast.
"The incident happened on the Allihies Beach some time after 11 o'clock on Friday evening and in the early hours of Saturday morning.
"Gardaí are investigating reports that a young woman in her late teens was assaulted near a public toilet on the beach.
"It would be a popular enough spot locally, and well attended by people on Friday.
"So Gardaí are anxious that anyone who has information, or any witnesses, may contact them at Bantry Garda station".
