style="text-align: left;">Gardai are investigating the death of a child in Co. Offaly.

The body of an 11 year old girl was discovered at her home when emergency services were called to the scene at about 9 o’clock last night.

The 11 year old was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore, where she was pronounced dead.

A woman in her 50s was also taken to the hospital.

The scene has been sealed off this morning for a Garda forensic examination.

A post mortem is due to be carried out on the 11 year old’s body later in an attempt to establish the cause of death.

Gardai at Tullamore say they’re investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
