Gardaí are investigating after a man’s body was left at a post office in County Carlow this morning.
It is believed the body was brought to the post office by two other men in what appeared to be an attempt to claim the dead man's pension.
The men are believed to have fled the post office after staff contacted emergency services, leaving the body at the scene.
Gardaí said they are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the "unexplained death of an elderly man in the Carlow area".
Investigators said the course of their investigation will be determined by a post-mortem.
The services of the Garda Technical Bureau and the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested.
