Gardaí said they're investigating reports of criminal damage in the Bohernabreena area in Tallaght. 

The Irish Mirror reported the grave of a young child who died of an asthma attack was set on fire on Thursday.  

It is reported that the headstone was smashed on the ground and set on fire.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that the incident is being investigated as one of suspected criminal damage. 

“Gardaí received a report of an incident of criminal damage that occurred in the Bohernabreena area of Tallaght, Co Dublin at approximately 7pm, Thursday, May 25th,” they said.  

Concerns have been expressed on social media after reports of vandalism earlier in the week.

No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
