CCTV footage is being gathered by gardai investigating the death of a man in Dublin yesterday evening.

Stephen 'Dougie' Moran, who was in his 40s is originally from Limerick and was known to Gardai.

He was shot by a lone gunman at his front door at Earlsfort View in Lucan at around 7.30pm yesterday evening.

He was found by Gardaí in his front garden.

He was removed to Tallaght Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A burned out car was found near the scene.

Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Superintendent David Taylor from the Garda Press Office, who is leading the investigation, said: "There was extensive CCTV footage around his home. We are currently harvesting that CCTV and also CCTV at the scene where the car was burnt out and the routes from the scene where the car was burnt out.”
