Two people have been arrested in connection with the serious assault of a woman in Cork city.
Gardaí were alerted to the incident on Grand Parade at around 8.10pm last night and attended the scene along with emergency services.
The woman, who is in her 20s, was taken to Cork University Hospital where her injuries are described as serious but non-life-threatening.
A man in his 20s and a woman aged in her teens were both arrested in relation to the incident.
They are being held at Bridewell and Togher Garda stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
Gardaí say an examination of the scene has been carried out and CCTV from local businesses will be reviewed.
They are appealing for anyone who was in the Grand Parade area last night and has any information to contact Angelsea Garda Station.
