A Child Rescue Ireland alert, that was issued earlier this evening, has now been cancelled.

Gardai launched the appeal for the public's assistance in tracing the whereabouts of a two and a half year old boy.

Both the child and his father have been found safe and well.

Gardai have now requested that the family's privacy is respected.
