Gardaí have launched an appeal for witnesses to a Dublin City Centre assault that left a man in serious condition in hospital over the weekend.

Two men were arrested after the incident on O’Connell Street and Cathal Brugha Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.

One of the men, aged in his 20s, has since been charged and is due to appear in court this morning.

The second man, aged in his 30s, has been released from custody.

The injured man (40s) remains in serious condition in hospital this morning.

Gardaí say their investigations are ongoing and a file will be prepared for the DPP.

Investigators have issued a callout to anyone who was near the Living Room Bar on Cathal Brugha Street between 12:40am and 1am to contact them.

They also wish to speak to anyone who was on O’Connell Street Upper, opposite the Spire near the Spar shop, Funland and Tourism Office, between 12.40am and 1am.

Anyone who has camera footage from the area is also asked to make it available to Gardaí.
