Gardaí in Wexford have said they are not investigating “any separate alleged Public Order Incidents” on board the ferry sailing where a woman was found dead.

They are continuing to investigate all circumstances surrounding the death of a woman on board a ferry which was en route to Rosslare, County Wexford, yesterday evening.

A post mortem examination is underway at Waterford University Hospital - which will determine the nature of the investigation the Gardaí will conduct.

A man who was arrested in connection with the investigation remains in custody and is being questioned at a Garda station in the Eastern Region.

A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation and a Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to provide support and information to the deceased’s family.

“Updates will be provided in due course, when appropriate to do so,” a Garda press release read.

Investigations are ongoing.
