Gardaí have opened a murder investigation into the death of Ian Baitson.
The 33-year-old father of one is believed to have been attacked by a samurai sword on the Newtown Road in Cobh, County Cork, on the night of March 15th.
He was then taken to Cork University Hospital and received emergency surgery on what has been described as a ‘traumatic leg injury’ before passing away on Tuesday.
Armed Gardaí conducted a number of raids on houses in Cobh yesterday in relation to his death but no arrests were made and no weapon was recovered.
