A Garda investigation is underway after the discovery of an illegal pub in Co Kildare.
The suspected 'Shebeen' in Athy was searched by Gardaí at around 8pm yesterday evening.
They became aware through social media that the premises was allegedly operating contrary to liquor licensing laws and COVID-19 guidelines.
During the search, which was part of the ongoing Operation Navigation, Gardaí found a fully fitted bar with stools, tables, chairs, a 70 inch flat-screen TV and a full-size pool table.
There were several beer taps on the bar, along with an underbar cooler and kegs.
There was also a smoking area, storeroom and toilet on the premises.
During the search, Gardaí seized five kegs of beer, a significant amount of spirits and bottled beers, and various bar equipment including taps, gas and coolers.

Gardaí say a full investigation is now underway and files will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
They have appealed to anyone with information about the operation of illegal Shebeens to contact their local Garda Station.
