Some €40,000 worth of heroin has been seized by Gardai in Cork.

It happened during an exchange in the car park of the Silver Springs Hotel.

The seizure was as part of an intelligence led operation, and officers were lying-in-wait.

Two men and a woman, aged in their 20s and 30s, were arrested at the scene.

The three are being held at Mayfield and Gurranabraher Garda Stations, where they can be questioned for up to 7 days.
