Gardaí have seized a Rolex watch and €10,000 of cryptocurrency as part of an international investigation targeting organised fraud.
Called Operation Stardew, there were 12 locations across counties Dublin, Kildare, and Waterford searched over the last two days.
Some €42,000 in cash, 82 smartphones, 25 computers and nine tablet devices were seized – in addition to the Rolex watch and cryptocurrency.
Two men were also arrested and will appear in court at a later date.
Europol coordinated the operation with searches as part of Operation Stardew taking place in 19 countries across the EU this week.
The targeted individuals are believed to be involved in organised fraud where bulk ‘phishing’ or ‘smishing’ text messages are sent out designed to trick people into sharing personal data and credentials.
Gardaí said the operation was successful in its aim of “severely disrupting” one of the “world’s largest” phishing networks.
