Gardaí are speaking to motorists at checkpoints in Kenmare in County Kerry this morning, as the search for missing Michael Gaine continues.
The 56-year-old was last seen in the town a week ago today.
The farmer who lives on the Ring of Kerry close to Moll’s Gap was last seen buying mobile phone credit in a shop in Kenmare at around 10am last Thursday.
Extensive searches of lakes, land and hillside involving hundreds of volunteers, a coastguard helicopter and the local Civil Defence have taken place, however there has been no trace of the missing man.
Gardaí are currently canvassing motorists in the town, while divers from the Garda Water Unit are continuing their search of nearby rivers and lakes.

Superintendent David Callaghan of Tralee Garda Station said in a press conference that Gardaí and Mr Gaine's family are "extremely concerned for his wellbeing".
"Gardaí here in Kenmare are continuing to investigate the current whereabouts of 56-year-old Michael Gaine, who was reported missing from his home near Kenmare on Friday the 21st of March, 2025," he said.
"Michael, who also goes by Mike, was last seen in Kenmare town on this day last week, Thursday the 20th of March, 2025.
"Michael bought phone credit in centre Kenmare at 9:48am, Michael then left in his bronze coloured Toyota Rav4 registration number 152/KY/366 - this vehicle was found parked in Michael Gaine's farmyard, just off the N71 at Carraig East, Kenmare."
"It is now one week since the last sighting of Michael Gaine - Michael's family have not heard from him, and his family and An Garda Síochána are extremely concerned for his well being."

Michael is described as being approximately five feet and 10 inches tall, of a stocky build with brown/grey hair and a bushy beard.
When last seen, Michael was wearing an orange woolly hat, a black fleece, blue jeans and black boots.
"Searches have been carried out at Michael Gaine's farmyard and in the immediate vicinity," Superintendent Callaghan said.
"An Garda Síochána continues to work and is fully supported by other voluntary and State agencies in our ongoing efforts to locate Michael.
"An Garda Síochána is not requesting the assistance of the general public for further searches at this time.
"However, Gardaí continue to want to speak to any person who travelled on the N71 on Thursday the 28th of March 2025 or any person who may have any camera footage, including dash cam or CCTV, or any other images, video or stills from Thursday the 20th of March and Friday the 21st of March in the Kenmare town, Moll's gap, N71 R568 area to provide that imagery to the Garda investigation team."
Anyone with information on Michael's whereabouts is asked to contact Gardaí.
