Gardaí have seized a fleet of electric bikes and scramblers alongside large amounts of cash and drugs in a major search operation in Dublin.
The operation targeted criminals using electric modes of transport in the Clondalkin and Ballyfermot areas.
Gardaí said they were primarily interested in the unlawful use of e-bikes, scramblers and e-scooters which is causing “potential harm and disruption to members of the local communities”.
A man in his 20s was arrested and is being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act at a Garda station in west Dublin.
During the course of the operation the following items were seized:
- Two Electric Scooters
- 10 Electric Bikes
- Two Stolen High Powered Motorbikes
- Five Scrambler/Motorbikes
- One Quad Bike
- €8,800 cash believed to be the proceeds of crime
- €36,000 worth of cannabis herb
- €4,800 worth of Alprazolam tablets
Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine used to treat anxiety and panic disorders.
In a statement, Chief Superintendent McNulty of the DMR West Division said: "The actions of Gardaí in this operation are testament to their ongoing determination in targeting those who are causing harm and disruption to our communities on a daily basis”.
The Garda operation is continuing.
