Gardaí have said several banknotes of prop money are being used in parts of Cork.
Businesses in Mitchelstown are being asked to be on alert for the fake bank notes.
Several prop notes were passed in the town on Monday.
They are used as props for television and films, and are not legal tender.
Gardaí say that they are in varying denominations, which is unusual.
The €10 and €20 notes have giveaways, but these are easy to miss.
The words 'This is not legal. It is to be used for motion props' appear on the left side of the note.
While a signature under the EU flag in the top left - usually signed by European Central Bank President Mario Draghi - actually reads: 'Movie Money'.
And the word 'PROP' appears to be written on the front of the note, where it should read 'EURO' in Greek.
"Be on alert and check notes, especially with a busy weekend approaching", Gardaí add.
