Tristan Sherry will be laid to rest this morning at St. Canice's Church in Finglas, more than three weeks after he was killed.
The twenty-six-year old father of one, entered Browne's Steakhouse in Blanchardstown on Christmas Eve, and opened fire on a group of diners.
Mr Sherry was overpowered and fatally injured in the ensuing altercation.
Another man, Jason Hennessy Snr, was fatally wounded in the shooting, dying from his injuries in the Mater Hospital on January 4th.
Three people have been charged with the murder Tristan Sherry and a strong Garda presence is expected at the funeral, as fears continue to mount of an escalation in violence following the attack.
“We’d expect to see uniformed Gardaí on the streets outside the Church, for example,” Irish Times Security and Crime Editor Conor Lally said.
“There will be backup Garda resources elsewhere; people like armed Gardaí, there’ll be some public order Gardaí.
“They would only be drafted in if things go very badly wrong and we don’t really expect that to happen.”
In a statement on RIP.ie, Mr Sherry’s family said he would be “very sadly missed by his heartbroken Mam, Mary, and sister, Savanna, beloved daughter, Aria, aunts Yvonne, Priscilla, Leona and a very wide circle of friends.”
