Gas Networks Ireland has announced plans to hire their first apprentices in 30 years.

50 new jobs at the company will be available as part of the plans.

The scheme is being run in conjunction with the Further Education and Training Authority, Solas.

The programme will take four years and successful candidates will earn a FETAC level 6 qualification on completion.

Applications are open until April 25th.

Meanwhile, a Waterford-based call centre firm is creating 320 jobs in Lurgan, County Armagh.

Eishtec is setting up an operation in the Silverwood business park.

The company, which was founded in 2011, employs more than 1,100 people.
