Ryan Tubridy is likely leaving hosting duties at the 'The Late Late Show' to run for President, according to Newstalk host Gavan Reilly.
The On The Record host was speaking as the RTÉ presenter announced the move earlier this week.
Tubridy has been at the helm since 2009 when he took over the role from Pat Kenny.
Branding it as his "conspiracy theory", Gavan said a move towards the Áras for Tubridy would not surprise him.
"I think he's going to run for President," he said.
"I think Ryan Tubridy's going to run for President because I think that an awful lot of his ethos to the Late Late Show in the last couple of years has been about this being almost like a national altar, where you discuss issues that are of universal appeal to everyone.
"I think he particularly took his perception as being some sort of national pastor during COVID to heart.
"I think that he really enjoys the idea of being the ringmaster for the national circus that is The Toy Show.
"I think that it wouldn't be all that unusual for him to decide to go for the highest office in the country," he added.
