Michael Healy-Rae looks set to top the polls in Kerry – with the final tally giving him nearly one-quarter of first preference votes in the county.
You can keep up to date with all the General Election results throughout the weekend through Newstalk’s live blog and video stream.
Speaking to Newstalk, he said he expects to see his brother Danny (11%) elected alongside him – with seats also going to Sinn Féin justice spokesman Pa Daly (15%) and Fianna Fáil’s outgoing Education Minister Norma Foley (13.3%).
“The way I would look at it right now, again, just being factual about it, you will have two Healy Raes, you will have Sinn Féin, you will have Fianna Fáil - and I’m calling that for the minister Norma Foley,” Michael Healy-Rae said.
“The question then is the last remaining seat and I would say, it looks to me, because of the fact that he would be what I would call transfer-friendly, I would call that for Michael Cahill from Fianna Fáil.”
That would leave former Gaelic footballer and Fianna Gael candidate Billy O’Shea (10%) and Fianna Fáil councillor Michael Cahill (10.5%) in a fight for the fifth seat in the constituency.
Newstalk reporters will be at count centres around Ireland bringing you all the results as they come in.
