Gerry Adams has told a court his younger brother admitted sexually abusing his daughter.

The Sinn Fein president said Liam Adams made the alleged admission during a meeting in Dundalk in 2000.

Gerry Adams told Belfast Crown Court that during a number of conversations his brother acknowledged he had sexually abused his daughter.

Liam Adams who is 57-years old and from Bearnagh Drive in West Belfast denies 10 counts of sexual abuse between 1977 and 1983 against Aine. She has waived her right to anonymity.

Gerry Adams says his younger brother said it only happened the once.

He told the court "To the best of my recollection, the terms he used were that he had molested her or that he had interfered with her - that he had sexually assaulted her".
