The publishers of an autobiography by the former partner of the late Gerry Ryan have agreed to stop the book going on sale for 2 weeks.
The book by Melanie Verwoerd entitled ‘When We Dance’ was due to hit the shelves from today.
However music promoter Dave Kavanagh is trying to restrain its publication claiming it is defamatory.
The High Court has put the case back until October 24th to give the publishers time to put forward a defence.
In the meantime the book will not go on sale.
Mr. Kavanagh was one of the last people to see Gerry Ryan alive before he died from heart failure most likely caused by cocaine and alcohol.
The day before the death of the 2fm presenter they met for drinks in The Four Seasons hotel in Ballsbridge and later joined friends for dinner at Town Bar in Grill in Dublin city centre.
He told the inquest of Mr. Ryan that the broadcaster was in good form.
The court had heard that the book by the former UNICEF executive may have already hit the shelves in Eason’s.
Lawyers for his former partner and the publishers said this was sprung on them last night and they need time to consider their position.
