The Minister for Foreign Affairs says arrangements are being made for the Halawa siblings to return to Dublin. The four were held in Cairo following unrest there back in August.
Egyptian authorities will decide later whether to release the brother - Ibrahim Halawa - from prison. The 17-year-old was detained along with his three sisters - Omaima, Somaia and Fatima.
The three sisters who are all aged in their 20s were released on Friday. However Ibrahim who was also detained with them remains in prison.
Speaking in Brussels, the Tanaiste and Foreign Affairs Minister Eamon Gilmore says Dublin and Cairo have been in contact, and that this is a welcome development.
While one of the Halawa sisters, Nusayba, says they expect a decision on Ibrahim today.
They were among hundreds of people cleared out of the al-Fath mosque when security forces stormed the building.
The four siblings are from Firhouse in Dublin and their father is the Imam of the Islamic Cultural Centre in Clonskeagh.
Groups of people from both Ireland and Egypt had held protests outside the Egyptian embassy in Dublin calling for their release.
