The Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore says the Health Service Executive (HSE) has told him that there was no Ministerial involvement in selecting the site for the building of a primary care centre in the constituency of James Reilly.
He also said that Health Minister consulted him about the adding of extra centres to an initial priority list of 20 drawn up by the HSE.
But he says he was not consulted about the criteria used.
This was the first chance the opposition had to quiz the Tánaiste about the controversy over health centres in the constituency of the Health Minister James Reilly.
He has also told the Dáil he supported Roisin Shortall in what she was doing in the Department of Health “at all times”.
He has refused an opposition request for the coalition to publish all documentation surround the primary care centre selection saying it is available under Freedom of Information.
And he says he has received assurances all primary care centre sites were selected appropriately.
