A young girl has been hospitalised after a boating incident in Co Limerick.
It happened on a stretch of the Abbey River, shortly after 10.00am on Saturday.
The girl was in a rowing boat with three other girls when it overturned.
It is understood the girl became trapped underneath the boat.
She is in a critical condition at University Hospital Limerick.
It is believed the girls were taking part in an excursion from Athlunkard Boat Club at the time.
Firefighters who were on patrol on the river at the time discovered the capsized boat and performed emergency first aid to the girl, before she was taken by ambulance to hospital.
An investigation is underway into the incident.
The Athlunkard Boat Club was unavailable for comment.
