Emergency services have recovered the body of a girl this evening following a search and rescue operation.
Earlier today, the child went into the sea at Fountainstown Beach, close to Crosshaven, County Cork and emergency services were notified.
Gardaí, the Coast Guard, RNLI, Fire Services, Customs, Mallow River Rescue were all involved in the search and her body was recovered at 7:45pm.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out by staff at Cork University Hospital.
