Gogglebox Ireland is hoping to cast priests and nuns in its next series.
The reality show gives viewers a window into some of Ireland’s funniest TV watchers as they give their opinions on everything from current affairs, comedy to drama.
Speaking to Newstalk Breakfast, producer Gareth McGreevy said the show thrives on diversity.
“We’re always looking for new people every year, to try to find someone we might not already have,” he said.
“I suppose the clergy have always been on that list of cast members we’ve always been looking for that we’ve never been able to find.”
The show is also keen to maintain geographic diversity and is particularly interested in people who like the news.
“We’re always open to people from all different backgrounds from right across the country from Donegal down to Kerry and Cork,” Mr McGreevy said.
“I suppose this year we’re kind of looking for people who are kind of interested in current affairs and news.
“One thing that Gogglebox Ireland prides itself in is it’s very into news and current affairs and that’s something that the audience resonate with.
“So, we’re always looking for cast members who are well informed, who love reading the news and can bring that context to the show as well.”
Mr McGreevy said all cast members “bring something different to the show” and who gets the most airtime varies from episode to episode.
“Each year and each week it really depends on who brings us the best content,” he said.
“Who throws us the best lines and who makes our lives easier [as we put] the show together.”
Anyone interested in applying should email casting@kiteentertainment.com with your contact details, whether you are a member of the clergy, who you would be sharing the couch with and your location.
