Japan seems to love their Kit Kat bars, to the point that the flavours they come in are extremely... unique.
Curious to know just how unique they get? Well, take a deep breath, because here's all the Japan-only flavours we could find:
Matcha tea, grilled potato, cherry, soybean, blueberry cheesecake, brandy, Azuki bean, apricot seed, banana, white peach, green tea, french salt, pumpkin, melon, apple, mango, strawberry milk, lemon, watermelon, vinegar, sports drink (?!), pineapple, kiwi, cappuccino, maple, and, last but not least, cream cheese.
There has also been Kit Kat pizza...
... and Kit Kat Sandwiches...
... and now, to celebrate Nestle Japan receiving one million visitors to their chocolate factory, the company is releasing a very special bar to commemorate the event.
The Sublime Gold Kit Kat will be limited to just 500 bars, retailing at 2,016 yen (US$16.41) in December, to coincide with the upcoming New Year celebrations. Using a premium, rich bitter-flavoured chocolate Kit Kat as its base, the gold leaf layer is added by hand, which will probably make it difficult for their owners to actually want to eat them, considering their rareness.
On top of that, a far less edible 24-karat gold version of the iconic chocolate bar. Weighing in at 230 grams (8.1 ounces), customers who sign up for the Nestle Japan's Chocolatory membership program in January will be in the running to win the unique item.
