Google has confirmed it is cutting 240 jobs in Ireland.
The layoffs are part of a global reduction in the tech giant’s workforce.
Last month, the company’s parent Alphabet announced plans to cut around 12,000 jobs around the world – around 6% of its workforce.
In an email to its Irish staff this morning, the company confirmed it was cutting 240 Irish jobs.
The layoffs will be in sales, technology and engineering and ‘support functions’.
The company currently employs around 5,500 people in Ireland.
Announcing the global job cuts last month, company CEO Sundar Pichai said he took “full responsibility for the decisions” that have led to the company needing to reduce its workforce.
