Couch potatoes could soon receive the motivation needed to go for that long overdue run with thanks to new talking trainers from Google. The footwear communicates through a speaker wired through its tongue that is linked to headphones of the wearer.

Measuring movement and direction the internet-connected shoes may say to the runner "This is boring" when the person is sitting stationary for too long.

Or when you get moving it offers words of encouragement like "You've made me a very proud shoe - wait til I tell my friends about this" .

The Android-connected shoe is fitted with a tiny computer, speaker, accelerometer, a gyroscope and a pressure sensor.

The shoe was demonstrated at the South by Southwest festival in Texas. But it is not known when the product will go on sale.
