Tens of thousands of supporters of the Turkish government are expected in Istanbul today, just hours after police stormed the park at the centre of weeks of anti-government protests.

Riot police used tear gas and water canon to reclaim Gezi Park from demonstrators last night.

The officers moved in just two hours after the Prime Minister issued an ultimatum to protesters to quit the park.

The Prime Minister has invited tens of thousands of his supporters to hold a rally in Istanbul later today.
