Doctors are warning that they're at breaking point, because of the fourth set of cutbacks to funding in the last three years.

The National Association of General Practitioners is holding an Extraordinary General Meeting today in Portlaoise, to discuss how the reduced spending is putting patients at risk.

CEO of the Association of GP's, Chris Goodie, says more cuts were introduced from 1st July - the fourth cut since 2010 - which bring the total reduction to around 160 million euro.

He says nearly 1 in 10 practices will have to close because of government cutbacks.
