The head of the Garda Representative Association (GRA) says he fears losing control of the anger of rank and file members.

Meanwhile a Garda Sergeant has revealed he faces a criminal investigation for his role in the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI). It comes as a small number of Gardai take their opposition to pay cuts under Croke Park Two to the Dáil.

A small group of Gardai from the GRA and AGSI have taken their protest to the politicians this afternoon. Carrying placards they are marching up and down outside the Dáil on Kildare Street.

But the man leading rank and file gardai GRA General-Secretary PJ Stone is not so sure he can keep such control of the thousands of members around the country.

And AGSI boss John Redmond says he has been warned about his protesting including that he faces a criminal inquiry.

But he has vowed to continue to represent the 2,000 Garda sergeants and inspectors saying 'let's see where this goes'.

AHCPS ballots members

Meanwhile the Association of Higher Civil and Public Servants (AHCPS) says it has begun balloting its members on the Croke Park deal. Almost 3,000 senior civil and public servants will vote.

Spokesman Ciarán Rohan says they are urging their members to vote no to the deal. He says the government proposals are unfair.

"There is an alternative as well is what we're saying" he said. "There are 270,000 tax payers earning over 65,000, and it's unfair to selectively target one group of workers in the public service for a further series of pay cuts after two series of cuts before" he added.

The results of that ballot will be known on April 15th.
