The Green Party is "better in than out" of government, according to MEP Grace O'Sullivan.
She said she believes members of the party will agree to the programme for government.
Green members have been meeting via videolink this afternoon to discuss the proposals, which were agreed by the Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil and Green parliamentary parties earlier this week.
It will be the first indication of the wider view of Green Party members since the programme for government was published.
Two-thirds of members will have to approve the deal in a postal ballot, with results expected next Friday.
Speaking on Newstalk Breakfast ahead of the meeting today, Green MEP for Ireland South, Grace O'Sullivan, said she believes the deal will be approved but that it 'won't be easy'.
She said: "It was difficult for me to decide to support it.
"Climate change and biodiversity decline... they were areas that were strong areas for me.
"There are shortcomings in the document, there's no doubt about that... but I just feel at this point we're better in than out."
Catherine Martin support
Today's meeting has heard from the party's deputy leader Catherine Martin, who enthusiastically backed her party going into government.
She told the party conference that being in opposition is the wrong place to be if they want to achieve change.
Deputy Martin - who is set to run against Eamon Ryan in the upcoming party leadership contest - told members that entering government is not without risk, and that they should enter any such arrangement with their eyes wide open.
She said that it's within government that the party has "the greatest potential to make real change... the change our country so urgently needs".
Ms O'Sullivan earlier said Deputy Martin fought to get some of the commitments and wording around climate change into the final document.
The MEP observed: "I believe that Catherine really did fight for some really good items in here... I think she will argue forcefully, because she's quite a strong lady.
"She does see we will be better in than out."
