A Greek neo-Nazi party has handed out free food in central Athens to Greek citizens showing identify cards while refusing food to immigrants.

The far-right Golden Dawn party won 18 seats in the Greek parliament in June capitalising on rising unemployment and crime fears.

AFP press agency says about 500 people in Athens central Syntagma Square were given packets of pasta, milk, potatoes and cooking oil but immigrants were told to clear off.
