Cannabis worth €2.5 million has been seized in Co Meath.

A property in Gormanstown was searched as part of an operation by gardaí from Ashbourne and the Ballymun Garda Drugs Unit.

As well as the cannabis herb, officers discovered two hand grenades during the search.

The Defence Forces bomb disposal team was called in, and the devices have been made safe.

One man was arrested at the scene, and he's being held at Ashbourne Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act 1996.

Gardaí say their investigations are continuing.
