A group of staff at Dublin Airport have picked up a multi-million euro cheque from national lottery headquarters. The 17 workers bought the winning Saturday lotto ticket and scooped €6.4 million.

They bought their €112 Quick Pick in the Spar store in the arrivals hall of Terminal 1 in Dublin Airport.

It was a multi-draw ticket and the draw last Saturday was the last of the 8 weeks that it applied to.

Each member of the group who want to remain anonymous take home €378,000.

'The perfect start to a Monday morning'

None wanted to be named or photographed, but plans for the win include "Paying off the bills and mortgages - and there are even some wedding plans on the cards. It’s just great news - the perfect start to a Monday morning" said a member of the group.

The full winner group is comprised of 9 women and 8 men. They have been playing together for about 3 years, and this is by far their largest win to date.

One member of the syndicate had to make a journey this morning so that the entire group could collect together this afternoon.
