Gardaí have arrested a man who was carrying a gun in County Kildare.

It is believed the man, aged in his 20s, was on his way to commit an armed robbery when he was stopped by investigators on a street in Brownstown.

After searching the man, gardaí discovered he was carrying a concealed gun.

He was arrested and is being held at Kildare Garda Station.

The investigation is ongoing.
