Hamas has agreed to a new 24 hour humanitarian truce - which was supposed to start at midday.
Israel has yet to say whether it will take part in the latest ceasefire, although last night said it would observe it.
Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri said the group was offering the truce ahead of the start of Muslim holiday Eid, which marks the end of Ramadan. "In response to UN intervention and considering the situation of our people and the occasion of Eid", Abu Zuhri said.
