Early tallies suggest no candidate has a decisive lead in the race to be Limerick’s first elected mayor.
Independent John Moran is thought to be in the lead, with strong results in both the city and county.
Fianna Fáil’s Dee Ryan, Fine Gael’s Daniel Butler, independent Helen O'Donnell and Sinn Féin’s Maurice Quinlivan are also tallying well.
Limerick mayor race
“The mayoral tallies here are very ad hoc, so we don’t know,” Mr Quinlivan told Newstalk.
“Some are really, really good, some are not so good.
“I’m doing well in one box and other candidates are doing well in other boxes.
“So, it’s very hard to say.”
In the rest of the country, early data remains pretty scattergun but a few early trends have already emerged.
Dublin will be a dogfight when it comes to the European elections but Fianna Fáil’s Barry Andrews, Fine Gael’s Regina Doherty and Sinn Féin’s Lynn Boylan are all polling well.
But so is Independent Ireland’s Niall Boylan, Labour’s Aodhan Ó Ríordáin, Clare Daly, the Greens’ Ciarán Cuffe and People Before Profit’s Brid Smith - all with their own geographical areas of strength.
So far, there is no clear picture of how people voted in Ireland South or Midlands North West.
