The Minister for Health James Reilly has said there are legal issues delaying the publication of the report into the death of Savita Halappanavar but he had expected it would be with him before now.

31-year-old Savita Halappanavar died from infection at Galway University Hospital last October. She presented at the hospital while miscarrying her baby.

Speaking at a health conference in Dublin earlier Minister Reilly said there are "legal issues" delaying the report which is formulated then sent out to people mentioned in it.

He said those mentioned have a right to "challenge" the findings.

He said he does not want the report delayed and will make sure Savita's husband Praveen is given the change to make any "observations" before it is published.
