The Health Minister is vowing to tackle drugs prices.

Some commonly used generic medicines are up to 27 times more expensive here than in the UK.

Leo Varadkar is considering proposals which would see drug companies tendering to supply medicines to the health service.

The Sunday Business Post reports that Minister Varadkar will bring proposals to the cabinet which will enable him to join forces with other EU countries to try and negotiate cheaper prices for new medicines.
